Hello Northeast Community!
My name is Shelby Spjuth (weird last name, I know. It’s pronounced sp-ew-th. The J is silent :) ) and I am your child’s new third grade teacher! I am ecstatic to have your child in my class and even more excited to have a great year together!
A little bit about myself, I was born and raised in a Northwest suburb of Chicago called Algonquin. When I graduated high school I made the decision to pack up my life in Illinois and attend college at the University of Kansas. I graduated from KU in 2016 with a degree in Elementary Education and an endorsement in Special Education. This will be my third year at Northeast and I have grown more than I ever thought possible in such a short amount of time!
Outside of teaching, I am an avid sports lover. Being from Chicago, hockey is a way of life and I am a die hard Blackhawks fan. I throughly enjoy spending my fall and winter Sunday nights watching ‘Da Bears’ play football. I also live for basketball and more specifically I live for the Kansas Jayhawks. Come March I will be apart of the Madness as I am glued to a TV screen cheering on my Jayhawks, hoping Bill Self will take us to the National Championship. When there isn't a sporting event happening, I spend my time with my fiance outdoors. We love hiking, skiing, fly and ice fishing , kayaking, and just going for walks with our four legged animals, Lucy and Trout. Some of my other hobbies include reading, writing, going to concerts or even playing sports myself. I also love spending time with my family and friends.
I am beyond excited to have your child in my classroom! It will be a great year of fun, hands on learning!
