Speech Language Pathologist
Hello! My name is Kaitlyn Bendlin and I am so grateful to be returning to Northeast for my fourth year as the speech-language pathologist.
Born and raised in Orange County, New York, I moved out to Colorado in the summer of 2015 to explore a new part of the country and start a new adventure. Back in NY, I received a B.A. in Anthropology and a B.S. in Human Development at Binghamton University before I completed my M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology at Syracuse University. Prior to moving out to Colorado and working at Northeast, I worked for one year and completed my clinical fellowship at a preschool for children with special needs in Monroe, NY.
I try to keep life as interesting and eclectic as possible. Outside of Northeast I can be found hiking, skiing, camping, playing basketball, running, attending a book reading or creative writing workshop, cooking, and visiting my NY family and three nephews.
My goal at Northeast is to help as many students as I can to become confident communicators. I believe in a strong sense of community among and between staff and students, as well as the benefits of authentic learning experiences. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. See you in August!

Hello! My name is Courtney Dreher and I’m so excited to be returning to Northeast for my second year as the school psychologist! I am also very excited to be starting my first year as the school psychologist at Mountain View! I feel truly fortunate to be able to support this wonderful community and to have the opportunity to support the growth in our students as they continue from Mountain View to Northeast.
I’m a Colorado native and actually grew up in the Parker area. I received my B.A. in Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado and received my Ed.S. in Child, Family, and School Psychology with a Concentration in Early Childhood at the University of Denver. I live in Parker with my husband, Alex, and our adorable rescue pup, Lainie. I absolutely love living in Colorado and like to spend time in the mountains when I can. I also enjoy playing piano, trying out new restaurants, traveling, spending time with family and friends, and going to country concerts and Rockies games.
I’m really looking forward to another year with the Northeast family and I can’t wait to get to know everyone in the Mountain View family! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything or have any questions for me.
English Language Learning Specialist
Hi there, my name is Jacob Dunne. I will be returning as the ESL Teacher at Northeast, and I couldn’t be more excited! I was born and raised in Las Vegas, NV and moved to Colorado in 2012 for my undergrad. I graduated from Colorado Christian with my degree in Elementary Education. Shortly after that, I received my Master’s degree at CU-Boulder in Educational Equity & Cultural Diversity.
Between my undergrad degree at Colorado Christian, Master's degree at CU-Boulder, and one year under my belt at DCSD; I feel 100% prepared and ready to positively impact NE and its community.
I am truly blessed and honored to be apart of the Northeast community, and I look forward to another great year servicing your ESL kiddos! :)

Mild/ Moderate Needs Teacher
My name is Joan Lazzell and I am very excited to be starting my first year at Northeast Elementary! Prior to coming to Northeast, I was a Special Educator in Denver Public Schools as well as in Douglas County and also taught 2nd grade. Originally, I am from a northern suburb of Chicago and am a lifelong Cubs fan! I received my undergraduate degrees in Elementary Education and Psychology from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. After moving to Colorado, I attended the University of Colorado Denver and earned a Master’s Degree in Special Education, Mild/Moderate Needs.
I have two daughters, Sydney (22) and Nicole (18). Both attended Douglas County Schools from kindergarten through high school and graduated from Mountain Vista. Sydney has one more semester to complete this fall at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is majoring in Integrated Physiology and is planning to go to graduate school to be a Physical Therapist. Nicole will be a freshman this year at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is majoring in Marine Biology. When I am not spending time with the girls, one of my favorite Colorado activities is to hike with my yellow lab/retriever mix, Wrigley.
My belief is that all students are capable of great success, and I am dedicated to helping them achieve their maximum potential. Building connections and relationships are important in developing a positive learning environment. I see parents as partners in education, and hope that each of you will become an integral part of your child’s learning experience. I would like to invite you to promote a strong relationship between home and school by communicating any questions, concerns, or compliments that you may have this school year!
