COVID Information and Procedures
It is my job to take the best care of your preschoolers, and my coworkers.
We will be diligent with sanitizing, hand washing, and appropriate social distancing.
Masks are required for everyone in the building.
I understand it is not comfortable to wear a mask for long periods of time, especially for little ones. We will do our best to work with them on keeping the mask on and letting them have "mask breaks" when necessary. I am hopeful this will be a short-lived way of life, but while it is the current situation, we will do our best to make it easy.
We are following all the current regulations and protocols given to us by the district and the CDC. These are ever-evolving, so please understand if things change regarding procedures.
If your child experiences any symptoms while at school, we must call and have you pick them up.
I have attached a letter regarding going to school and illness related to COVID.
Our "normal" health guidelines are listed below in the classroom information section. Those still apply regarding your child and returning to school after an illness. But currently, the COVID protocol takes precedent and we will follow those first.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we map all this out.
The parent is the best judge of whether a child is well or not. Please take time to be sure your child is completely well before leaving home. It is the goal of our department to keep staff and students healthy.
Please adhere to these guidelines:
Flu or Flu-like Symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat): Child must stay home until fever-free for
24 hours without the use of fever-reducing or other medications
Contagious Illnesses requiring medication: Child must stay home for 24 hours after being
Vomiting: Child must stay home for 48 hours following the last episode of vomiting
Diarrhea: Child must stay home for 48 hours following the last episode of diarrhea
Please notify the school if your child has a contagious illness or will be absent
If a child becomes ill at school, the parent will be called and will be expected to pick the child up from school.
DCSD Early Childhood Snack Policy
Snack time is an important component of the preschool day. Parents will be asked to send a nutritional snack for their child. Snacks need to be pre-packaged or prepared from commercial sources, in compliance with the Department of Public Health. If your child has any food allergies, please contact the teaching staff prior to the first day of school, so they may inform the nurse covering your school.
This means that in classrooms that have students with life threatening food allergies, we will have to turn away any snacks containing those food products for the safety of our students. Therefore, please only pack snacks that are free of the allergen that would threaten our children.
While in preschool, we are often practicing our sharing; however, snack time is not the time to do so at school. This is essential for all of our students to learn in preparation for elementary school and beyond, where this is also the policy.
Birthday and special occasion snacks are always welcome for all children, they will however have to be store bought with the ingredients clearly legible. Keep in mind that we are happy to have plain, fresh fruit and vegetable snacks, as well as non-food options!
