On a delayed schedule, Douglas County preschools AM Class will be cancelled.

PM Preschool class will not be affected by the delayed schedule

Important Dates and Reminders:

In an effort to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), Douglas County School District will be closed from Monday, March 16 through the end of the school year. This includes our already scheduled Spring Break. Please refer to the District website (click here) for more information.

With the recent extension of the district closure, ECE preschool staff will now create “remote learning” opportunities for families - this will be for families to access at their convenience and ability. And, in addition, teams should to continue to support families through this time in responsive and individualized ways.

Please read the letter (click here) sent out to all families today.

Illness Policy

The parent is the best judge of whether a child is well or not. Please take time to be sure your child is completely well before leaving home. It is the goal of our department to keep staff and students healthy.

Please adhere to these guidelines:

 Flu or Flu-like Symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat): Child must stay home until fever-free for

24 hours without the use of fever-reducing or other medications

 Contagious Illnesses requiring medication: Child must stay home for 24 hours after being

 Vomiting: Child must stay home for 48 hours following the last episode of vomiting

 Diarrhea: Child must stay home for 48 hours following the last episode of diarrhea

Please notify the school if your child has a contagious illness or will be absent

If a child becomes ill at school, the parent will be called and will be expected to pick the child up from school.

DCSD Early Childhood Snack Policy

Snack time is an important component of the preschool day. Parents will be asked to send a nutritional snack for their child. Snacks need to be pre-packaged or prepared from commercial sources, in compliance with the Department of Public Health. If your child has any food allergies, please contact the teaching staff prior to the first day of school, so they may inform the nurse covering your school.

This means that in classrooms that have students with life threatening food allergies, we will have to turn away any snacks containing those food products for the safety of our students. Therefore, please only pack snacks that are free of the allergen that would threaten our children.

While in preschool, we are often practicing our sharing; however, snack time is not the time to do so at school. This is essential for all of our students to learn in preparation for elementary school and beyond, where this is also the policy.

Birthday and special occasion snacks are always welcome for all children, they will however have to be store bought with the ingredients clearly legible. Keep in mind that we are happy to have plain, fresh fruit and vegetable snacks, as well as non-food options!
