I'm Darren DeLaup! The instrumental music teacher at Sierra! I have taught middle school band and orchestra in middle schools for 6 years and at the high school level for 23 years! This will be my 20th year in DCSD! I am from New Orleans, LA, and have lived in Aurora, CO with my family since 2006. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of New Orleans, and a Master's of Music in Tuba Performance from the University of North Texas.
I am also a performing musician in a variety of groups! I am currently the principal tubist for the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra and the Colorado Wind Ensemble. I also perform in many smaller groups and a classic rock tribute to The Band's Last Waltz . I have performed all over the US, Mexico, and Europe throughout my career. Music is definitely an international language.
Why do music? Because EVERYONE loves music, and it's fun!
