I am a Colorado native and I grew up in a family of educators who drew me to my lifelong passion for teaching! I love learning and I have earned two college degrees including a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University - Long Beach. I started teaching as a second career in Torrance, California in 1996 where I had the opportunity to teach several different grade levels including: second grade, fifth grade, and sixth grade.
My family is my everything! My husband’s name is Farook Singh and he is an entrepreneur who has built an entertainment company over the last 20 years. He is a movie and television producer specializing in both drama and documentary series. My husband was born in Rajasthan, India, and lived there for the first 25 years of his life, but considers America to be his home. We have two adult children named Maya and Melia. Maya is 25 and she currently lives in London, England where she is a television and movie producer. Melia is 21 and is beginning her senior year studying at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I have many personal interests, but I especially love traveling, cooking, reading, scuba diving and simply embracing life’s adventures.
I am a passionate educator, and I have spent the last 23 years teaching 6th grade. I have worked in a variety of schools in Douglas County including: Wildcat Mountain Elementary, Rocky Heights Middle School, and Saddle Ranch Elementary. I believe in teaching the whole child and I focus daily instruction on building academic skills while developing strong relationships with students. My classroom is an innovative place where all students are challenged and engaged in learning!
