Wish Week 2023
Rock Canyon's Wish Week Story
In 2010, Rock Canyon High School had the tremendous honor of joining the Kids for Wish Kids team – a part of Make A Wish Colorado specifically designed to get today’s youth involved in creating life-changing opportunities for kids with life-threatening illnesses. For one week, our school unites as we work to raise the minimum $7,500.00 required to grant a wish. In the past fourteen years, Rock Canyon has raised over $825,000 and granted 111 wishes for the Make-A-Wish Colorado. Our school and community rally around the cause and continue to amaze us with their generosity and giving spirit.
At Rock Canyon, Wish Week is so much more than a simple fund-raiser. Wish Week represents the pride as the school unites to achieve one common goal, hope for a family and a dream come true for so many children with life-threatening illnesses. Our Wish Kids will forever be apart of the Rock Canyon family. These kids are strong, courageous and inspiring people who have made a significant impact on the hearts of RCHS students. It is our honor and privilege to know and be part of their Make-A-Wish experience.
Throughout the week, we hold several events for the Rock Canyon community to get involved. These events include an annual dodgeball tournament, student and staff basketball tournament, dress up days and various restaurant fundraisers. We also sell ‘Wish Kits’ to the RCHS students that include a t-shirt, bracelet and sticker. Students look forward to this week every year and constantly look for ways to help the cause. Some students will save their tips and paychecks to donate, parents will offer to match monetary gifts of their students and teachers create competitions between their classes. The most remarkable part of this fund raising effort is that the largest single donation we have ever received from an individual is $1,500.00. Our large totals do not come from large donations but rather a majority of our students looking for small ways to participate and make a difference.
