The SAC’s primary job is to provide input on the Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). This is a roadmap the school uses to improve student performance. The committee looks at data—like test scores and graduation rates—to identify where students are struggling and recommends strategies to fix those gaps.
While the SAC doesn't usually have the final "yes/no" vote on every dollar spent, they play a critical role in budget alignment. They review the school’s budget to ensure that the money is actually being spent on the goals outlined in the improvement plan. For example, if the goal is to improve literacy, the SAC might recommend allocating more funds toward reading interventionists.
The SAC acts as a "pulse check" for the community. Their goal is to:
Gather input from parents, teachers, and neighbors.
Inform the community about the school’s progress and challenges.
Ensure the school’s leadership is hearing diverse perspectives before making major decisions.
