About MRS. Wilkesheski

Welcome to Team Nokota! My name is Lisa Wilkesheski and I will be teaching Language Arts. This is my first year teaching at Cimarron, but my fifteenth year in education. I started as an elementary school teacher, teaching third and fifth grades. After eight years, I decided to work part-time as a reading teacher and substitute teacher, so I could be around to take my twin boys to school, volunteer in their classrooms, and help with homework. Now that they are entering eighth grade, I am more than ready to jump back in full-time!

I am originally from New Jersey, but I have been living in Colorado for over twenty years. I moved out here to get my Masters in Conflict Resolution from the University of Denver, met my husband, and never looked back! While getting my teaching license, I was a children's librarian, and I love sharing my fondness for literature with my students. I'm looking forward to creating a community of students who love to read and write! I consider myself to be a lifelong learner. Over the past couple of years, I have been taking writing classes to keep my creative juices flowing. Through my own education, I am always learning new fun strategies to engage students and meet student needs.

My family consists of my husband and me, our identical twin boys, and our rescue dog, Kirk. We love spending time together walking the dog, watching basketball (Go Celtics!), going to movies, having family game night, and trying to dip our feet in the ocean at least once a year. I'm lucky enough to have my parents and brothers living in Colorado as well. I get to spend plenty of time being an aunt to my two nieces and nephew. Family means so much to me.

This year is going to be amazing! I'm hoping to create a sixth-grade classroom where we continue to grow, collaborate, and share new experiences together. I'm always here to answer any questions or concerns, so please don't hesitate to contact me.

Let's have a great year!
