Classroom Expectations:

Check back after we start school to see what the kiddos and I came up with! I am very adamant in using the pronoun "our" when describing OUR classroom. The kids take ownership of how things should look and what we expect of ourselves, each other, and guests in our room. We will base our expectations off of the Flagstone ROCKS criteria but the kids will come up with the rules in their own words and examples. We are a family in room #53 and we want our classroom to feel like home. No learning can happen unless we feel safe & loved! (Relationships first!)

Homework Expectations:

In Kindie, we know the importance of play and getting to be a kid. We work SO hard at school and the expectation is the same for e-learning days. Home time should be spent as a family: playing, cooking dinner, having conversations, checking in on emotions, etc,. Because of this, I only ask that you do these 2 items for homework each night: 1. Read at least 10 minutes per night 2. Practice sight words (crucial for reading fluency!)

Birthday Books:

We love birthdays in kinderland, however with 20+ kiddos, doing birthday treats is a lot. Due to allergies and time, we celebrate with birthday books in our classroom instead! Please donate a children's book to our birthday book box by September 9/10. On your child's birthday, he/she will get to pick out a book from the birthday box and we will sing to him/her, read the book, and then everyone signs it. They get to keep it forever & they love it! Please do NOT send in desserts or treats for your child's birthday and save those for parties or celebrations at home! Thank you for understanding!

PS: This is a picture of my 2018-19 class who secretly got me a birthday book and signed it! It was the sweetest and just shows how much they love the tradition! :)

Volunteers:

We love volunteers in kindie! I can use help with most things, whether it's running a small group, reading with kids, or office work like copying & laminating! Our door is always open and kindies are so eager to show you what we're learning! Here is a link to become an approved volunteer via DCSD!
