Ms. Camp's Class

Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts at Eagle Ridge Elementary School!

Class overview

At Eagle Ridge Elementary School, the Language Arts program is in its second year using the "Wonders" curriculum. This comprehensive program can be used for reading comprehension, writing in response to literature, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and more. Each unit is comprised of 3 genre studies which take 10 days each and include a "shared read," an "anchor text," and a "paired selection." In total, each unit is scheduled to take 6 weeks.

About me

My name is Caryn Camp, and I am excited to be teaching language arts (reading and writing) in 6th grade this year!

My daughter and I have spent the last 13 years in Taiwan, and we just moved to Colorado this summer! While I must admit that learning Chinese was quite hard for me, my daughter is fluent!

Over the last 23 years, I have taught all over the world including in Alaska, upstate New York, Germany, and Taiwan. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have also taught ELL, guidance, and middle school science. I have a Masters degree in education and an Ed.S. degree in educational leadership.

I love the Leader in Me program, and I am looking forward to how its implementation not only benefits our classroom and school community, but also our personal growth as well. And in turn, that benefits our academic growth!

A few of my favorite books include The Hobbit, Harry Potter, and The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson).
