Welcome to Mrs. Rivera's Classroom! It's going to be a great school year!

Dear 5th Grade Families,

Welcome!! I am so excited to be your child’s 5th Grade teacher this year! In my room, we are going to learn so much and have fun while doing so!

This will be my eighth year at Northeast, and my second year in 5th grade. Before coming to 5th grade I taught 4th for six years. I am very familiar Northeast, as I attended here for 5th and 6th grade. I then went on to Sagewood Middle School and Ponderosa High School. I graduated from Hastings College in Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Special Education. My husband, John, and I have been married for almost seven years. We have a two and half year old son, Lucas, who is our pride and joy! We are overjoyed with him and spend every moment we can loving up on him. As a family, we love spending time outdoors, exploring local parks and trails, cooking, spending time with family, listening and dancing to music in our kitchen, and watching new movies.

I hope your child is ready for a lot of engaging and fun activities to explore this year. We will explore different genres of books and learn the craft of writing. We will dive into exciting projects throughout the year through various PBL projects.

I believe that all students are capable of learning and are able to succeed in and out of the classroom. I cannot wait to teach many engaging activities that will allow the students to excel and have fun. I plan to keep the students on their toes and continuously moving and learning!
