Dear Fifth Grade Students and Parents,
I am so excited to begin this 5th grade adventure with you. Ours is a student-centered classroom wherein we are a community of scholars who will spend our days learning and thinking. I will be your facilitator and guide through this process. You will learn how to be independent and self-regulatory. You will learn how to be effective thinkers, communicators, and respectful scholars. You will use your interests and passions to drive your learning. We will learn the design thinking process and use that process to navigate through our design challenges/STEM activities every other Friday. Our classroom set-up is designed to provide you with various learning spaces so that you can be comfortable and focused. You will have a space to put your things, but will spend a large part of your day moving around. I am thrilled to be your teacher this year and can't wait to get started on our learning journey!

Now, a little about me...
Now, a little about me...
I was born and raised in Southern California where I attended California State University at Los Angeles and earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in English. I then attended the Charter School of Education and earned a Professional Clear Elementary Teaching Credential. I taught 4th and 5th grade for almost ten years until my family and I moved here to Colorado. I am married to my high school sweet-heart with whom I have three beautiful daughters. My husband and I moved to Colorado when my oldest daughter was seven and my middle daughter was eight months and her “Irish twin” was still in utero. I had the pleasure and privilege of staying home to raise my girls until they were all in full day school. I worked as an Educational Assistant full time for two years before deciding to go back to teaching in a self-contained classroom. I am passionate about teaching. I love kids and I love learning. I love being a positive and effective force in the lives of children. I hope to inspire a love of learning in my students and a confidence that will help them pursue their potential. I believe that the two most important human characteristics are tenacity and kindness. I currently reside in Highlands Ranch with my husband, three daughters, and our two dogs, Louie and Mose (a lemon Beagle and Basset). I am excited everyday for the lessons that I will teach my students and for the lessons that they will teach me.
