Mrs. Wallace's Second Grade

Dear Second Grade Families,

I am Jocelyn Wallace Smiley and this will be my first year teaching second grade! I moved to Colorado this summer from Utah, where I went to school at Brigham Young University in Elementary Education with a minor in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have lived all over the United States, from Alaska and Arizona to Colorado and Nevada. I'm so happy to be back in this lovely state! I have been married for a little over a year to my sweetheart, Mark Smiley. In my free time, I love to cook, bake, sew, read, play pickleball, be outside, eat food, host parties, celebrate holidays, and be surrounded by family and friends. I cannot wait for this year at Mountain Peak Elementary!

Welcome to a new school year! I am so excited to be your child's second-grade teacher and to partner with your family this year. This is a crucial year for your child's growth and I am grateful to be part of it. 

This year is especially meaningful as we open Mountain Peak Elementary together. I am honored to be part of creating a brand-new school community and establishing traditions that will make Mountain Peak a special place for years to come. I look forward to building strong relationships with our students and families and creating a classroom where every child feels welcomed, safe, supported, and excited to learn.

I cannot wait to meet each of you and begin this wonderful adventure together. It is going to be a splendid year!
