RED ROCKS PARKING PRE-PAYMENT LINK

It is important to note: Live streaming is reliant on a number of factors, many of which are not in the control of the Douglas County School District, including the Internet service provided by third-party institutions/companies. DCSD endeavors to provide a high-quality broadcast of our graduations, but occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, this may not be possible. In those cases, DCSD will do its best to provide video clips of the ceremonies afterwards.

Message from the Principal

April 2023

To Parents of the Graduating Class of 2023,

The graduation ceremony for the Class of 2023 is rapidly approaching.  I know that each of you is as anxious as I am for a glorious celebration.  As you are aware, the ceremony will be held at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre at

2:00 p.m., on May 17, 2023.  I write this letter to ask for your support to insure a memorable event.

The ceremony is a celebration for family and students.  It is a dignified event to remember for a lifetime.  We have expectations for every member of the class that, we know you will agree, are appropriate.  We ask that seniors show respect for classmates by dressing properly for graduation. Shorts, blue jeans, tennis shoes, flip flops, or casual sandals will not be allowed. Girls will wear dresses or nice slacks, according to the weather.  Because of the amount of stairs and walking, shoes should be low-heeled or flat.  Boys will wear slacks with a white or light colored shirt and tie.  Graduates may not wear any item with or on their Cap or Gown, other than Honor Cords or Stoles provided by the school.  Any graduate found to be inappropriately dressed will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony.

The graduating class will be instructed concerning the correct behavior that is expected of them.  In past ceremonies we have had a few disruptions during the graduation exercise.  If a student’s behavior is deemed unacceptable by administration, the student will not be allowed to continue in the graduation ceremony, and, if necessary, the diploma will be held until such time that a meeting can be scheduled with me, the student, and his/her parents.   Commencement is a formal and dignified ceremony that may occur only once in a lifetime; dignified behavior is also expected of all families, guests and spectators.  Excessive applause or cheering for a specific student diminishes the experience for all students and families.  Please be sensitive to this fact.  Standing in the aisles will not be permitted during the ceremony.  Again, we ask that you help us assure that final memories of the school reflect the many positive achievements of the Class of 2023.  To this end, we ask that you and your graduating senior print and review the expectations outlined on the ‘behavior expectations for graduation’ form  located at the top of this web page.  Students who fail to return this form will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony.

This is also a reminder that all community service must be completed, documented, and turned into the Counseling Office Secretary by 3:00 p.m., May 1, 2023.  In addition, all fines, fees, books, and equipment must be paid for or returned to Highlands Ranch High School before graduation.  Please check the MySchoolBucks portal for your student’s current balance of fees or fines.  Outstanding debt must be paid in full before a student is allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

In closing, let me take this opportunity to congratulate each of you for the support you have given your student(s) during the past four years.  I am sure you are as proud of their accomplishments as I am.  We hope that this is only the beginning to your student’s journey of “Soaring for Excellence”.

Sincerely,

Dr. Chris Page, Jr.
