Why a Counseling CIRCLE?

A CIRCLE is a very important shape to the REMS community. We begin and end our days with Morning Meetings and Closing Circles, where we all sit together with our crews. We drum in circles. So we invite everyone into the Counseling Circle where we promote belonging and Crew Core Values: Passion, Perseverance, Courage, Integrity, Service, and Stewardship. Whether a student meets with Ms. Monica for individual counseling, students meet in counseling groups, or we are all learning SEL and counseling lessons together in the classroom, the REMS Counseling Program promotes building community, respect, creating a balance of power, and building empathy, just like our REMS circles.
