Cimarron Health Services
Cimarron Health Services
The health room is located in the front office. Students are allowed to visit the health room for illness, injury, and/or health support they may need. Cimarron also has a District Health Assistant who is trained in Basic First Aid/CPR and receives specific training and delegation from the School Nurse Consultant. Please see DCSD's Nursing Services Site for more information about the School Nurse Consultant role and the health room.
Carrying Medication in Middle School
Middle school students may carry up to a one-day supply of over-the-counter (OTC) medication (such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen) in the original, labeled container. No additional forms or paperwork are required.
Students who need to carry prescription medication must have a completed Permission to Carry Medication Form on file.
Medications Stored in the Health Room
If your student will have medication kept in the Health Room, a completed District Provider Authorization Form is required.
This form must be submitted for all medications, including emergency medications, daily medications, and over-the-counter medications.
Please refer to the District Medication Policy for full details and requirements.
Important: The school does not supply medications such as acetaminophen (Tylenol®), ibuprofen (Advil®/Motrin®), or diphenhydramine (Benadryl®). Students must have their own medication provided from home with the appropriate paperwork on file.
For guidance on health-related absences, please review the District's Guidelines for Determining Student Attendance. Feel free to reach out to our health room or school nurse directly with any questions or specific concerns about your student.
The Cimarron Middle School attendance line is 720-433-0122, or you can fill out this Google Attendance Form.
A concussion may affect a student’s ability to learn. Because every brain and every student is different, every concussion is different. Recovery time will be unique to each student, requiring an individualized approach to determine when it is appropriate to begin to return to athletic activity and full academics. Therefore, it is essential to have a concussion adjustment plan in place to help concussed students heal while continuing their education. Together, the concussion team will work to provide students support and guidance.
Colorado law requires students attending Colorado schools to be vaccinated against certain diseases unless a medical or non-medical exemption is filed. For more information about vaccine requirements, resources and exemptions, please visit the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment's School Immunization Page
Immunization Exemptions: Immunization exemptions are required to be renewed annually. For the 2025-2026 school year, there will be two ways to submit a non-medical exemption. Please visit the CDPHE vaccine exemptions webpage for more exemption information and requirements.
Submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption WITH a signature from your healthcare provider who is a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathic medicine, advanced practice nurse or delegated physician’s assistant.
OR submit the Certificate of non-medical exemption received upon the completion of Online Immunization Education Module.
The Cimarron School Nurse Consultant works to connect health and learning so students can feel safe, supported, and ready to succeed at school. The school nurse partners with families, teachers, special education staff, and healthcare providers to ensure each student’s health needs are understood and supported throughout the school day.
This support may include participating in IEP and 504 meetings, developing individualized health care plans, coordinating care between home and medical providers, training and supporting staff who work with students with complex medical needs, and ensuring appropriate emergency plans are in place.
The goal is to help every student safely access their education and participate as fully as possible in their school experience.

I have been in the nursing field for over 26 years, beginning my career as a nurse’s aide before becoming a Registered Nurse 24 years ago. My experience includes hospital care in medical-surgical, cardiac, trauma, and emergency settings. As a military spouse, I practiced in several states before our family settled here in Colorado. I’ve been a school nurse with DCSD for five years now, and I truly enjoy bringing my nursing skills into the school environment to care for our kids!
My husband and I have three children who attend schools in the Legend Feeder area, which makes serving in Douglas County School District especially meaningful to me. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, reading, and gardening. Especially tending to my koi pond.
I am passionate about supporting students’ health so they can fully participate in learning and life, and I am grateful to partner with DCSD families to support every child’s well-being.

I am excited to be part of the Douglas County school community as a Health Assistant. I attended the University of Northern Colorado, where I studied Sport and Exercise Science with an emphasis in Physical Therapy. My education, combined with my years of experience in leadership and working with people, has given me a strong foundation in health, wellness, organization, and helping others.
I am passionate about helping students feel safe, cared for, and supported throughout their school day. I look forward to building positive relationships with students, families, and staff and being a welcoming and dependable part of the school community.
Outside of school, my favorite place to be is with my family. I've been married to my husband for many years and together we have a daughter who keeps us busy, laughing, and always on the go! Being Colorado natives, we love taking advantage of everything our beautiful state has to offer. Whether it's a weekend getaway, discovering a new spot, or simply spending time together, we're always up for the next adventure!
