The Scholars' Bowl team competed in the Alabama Scholastic Competition Association  (ASCA) District Tournament on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Liberty Middle School.  The DMS team competed in seven round robin round matches against teams from Austin Middle/Austin Jr. High, Ardmore, Discovery Middle, East Limestone, Liberty Middle, Lindsay Lane Christian Academy, Monrovia Middle.

The Liberty Pool is known to be the strongest and most competitive pool in the state with three of the eight teams holding national ranks.  Results from this tournament will determine which teams proceed to the ASCA State Tournament to be in Hoover on February 26, 2022.

On Saturday, December 4, 2021, the Decatur Middle School Scholars’ Bowl Team participated in a tournament hosted annually by East Lawrence Middle School.  

Over 150 Alabama students participated in tournament held at East Lawrence Middle School.  Participating schools were Cullman, East Elementary (Cullman), Decatur Middle, Discovery Middle, Haleyville, East Lawrence Elementary, East Lawrence Middle, Moulton Middle, Highlands School, Sacred Heart.

Congratulations to our Scholars’ Bowl team who opened their season on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the West Point Invitational at Wallace State Community College. Decatur Middle School was well-represented; leading in total teams participating with one team competing in every pool. Each of the competing teams participated in 5 grueling preliminary rounds. We are SO proud of all of our teams for the sportsmanship and perseverance!
