Operating Theatre Live

@ DCHS in Northumberland

Operating Theatre Live's award winning programme and a previous sponsor of the Royal Society of Medicine's Medical Careers Day event in 2017/8, is now booking in Northumberland. This incredible operating theatre experience will give you the chance to dissect real specimens lead by human anatomist Samuel Piri and his team of clinicians. An expert in technical dissection you'll link GCSE, Scottish National 5, Highers and A Level content to real specimens and at the same time have a go at real surgical procedures.

Why attend?

Our in-depth academic sessions will show you how anatomy and physiology translates into disease. You'll learn how doctors use cutting-edge technology to treat disease. You'll dissect real specimens! We are the only provider of dissection based programmes where you will explore all anatomy including the stomach, intestines, gallbladder, pancreas, colon, head, spinal cord and neck. Have a go at administering anaesthetics to our patients, try your hand at intubation on real thoracic blocks as well as attempting real heart transplant surgery.

All students receive a workbook pack and certificate to take away. All dissection specimens are of spent swine origin and no animals have been harmed for the making of this experience. All timings are approximate.

We also work with Kaplan in providing information for the UKCAT and BMAT exam and provide information on interview preparation. Supporting you on your journey is really important to us.
