This webpage is for international students (including incoming students) who wish to move into the International Residence Halls Ikkyo-Ryo or Kunitachi. Please read the guidelines carefully and proceed with your application.
The application for the couple and family rooms in the residence hall Ikkyo-Ryo and Kunitachi is held twice a year, in January and July. Applications outside of the designated periods are generally not accepted. However, if you have unavoidable circumstances and wish to apply outside the application period, please contact the Accommodation Section <dormitory@ad.hit-u.ac.jp>.
When applying, you will be required to upload documents that prove your marital or de facto marital status.
Examples: Marriage certificate, resident record (showing "husband (unregistered)" or "wife (unregistered)").
Please note that single applicants are also eligible to apply. Single applicants do not need to submit the above documents, but the duration of residence may be limited. For details, please refer to section "4. Occupancy Period."
Selection is completely by lottery.
The applicant must be an international student who fulfills the following requirements.
The applicant is someone who holds (or is expected to hold) Japanese nationality, or a residence status such as “Student,” “Permanent Resident,” “Long-Term Resident,” or “Spouse or Child of a Japanese National (Permanent Resident).

*2. Please submit an explanation letter by the application deadline if you have exceeded the expected graduation date but wish to apply.
For those who are approved to move into the dormitory through the general application process, the occupancy period is typically limited to the duration until their expected advancement or graduation/completion date. By "expected advancement," we refer to the transition from the second to the third year of an undergraduate program. Your occupancy period expires after advancement, graduation/completion, suspension, or withdrawal from the university.
If someone currently residing in a Hitotsubashi University dormitory reaches their expected advancement or graduation/completion date, and wishes to continue living there for further studies (such as moving on to graduate school or advancing to the next year), they must reapply for accommodation. Please note that availability may be limited depending on the room situation.
For those who exceed their expected advancement or graduation/completion date due to repeating a year or other reasons, a reason statement must be submitted with the application. In principle, the maximum allowable residence period is one year. However, if the delay is due to an exchange program, no reason statement is required, and residence beyond one year may be allowed as an exception.
