Event Description
The final event of the Social Service Leader was a handicrafts session with the elderly in a community centre around the time of Chinese New Year. Volunteers practiced how to make little handicrafts such as “春” and “福” and helped the elderly to make them. The elderly enjoyed the session and brought their products home as festive decorations.

"I have never made handicrafts and found it quite a challenge at first. After repeated practice, I soon understood the techniques. However, on the day of service, I still struggled a bit but soon regained my confidence. Overall, I found this experience very useful and enjoyable."
"This activity was very eye-opening. I had underestimated the skills of the elderly as they turned out to be even better than we were at making the handicrafts. The most hilarious thing was that all of the elderly wanted red paper to make their handicrafts, probably because of Chinese cultural reasons, so we eventually ran out of stock. It was a laughter-filled activity for both the volunteers and the elderly.
