Music- Your decision to be married in a sacred church will be reflected in your choices of sacred scripture and  sacred music. Because we are in a consecrated sacred space, in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, music is deemed to be sacred. Secular music is never permitted. This includes prelude and postlude music. There are no exceptions. A comprehensive list of sacred music approprate for a wedding liturgy has been put together by the parish. This list will be presented to you at the liturgy meeting. The choice of music is not solely limited to our list. The music found in our church pew music book is another great source. However, any music outside of these two categories must be approved by the Director of Sacred Liturgy. Once you have chosen your music, you will enter your selections via Google Sheets. You will receive your personal Google Sheet at the liturgy meeting.

Organist/Pianist- At the Basilica, we expect the Director of Sacred Liturgy to serve as the organist/pianist for all weddings. For weddings at our other Spires of Faith Cluster parishes, we highly recommend that a trained organist/pianist from one of our parishes fulfill this role.

Cantor/Choir- It is also highly recommended that a trained wedding cantor from one of our parishes serve as the cantor.

It’s important that you wait until your liturgy meeting before making any arrangements. A comprehensive list of musicians will be provided. The Director will assist you in facilitating any of these arrangements.
