EARLY LIFE
Singer, Actor, Dancer. The triple threat!
Hugh Michael Jackman was born on October 12, 1968, in Sydney, Australia. Hugh Jackman's parents were born in England and had come to Australia in 1967 as part of the "Ten Pound Poms" immigration program - for the tiny amount of 10 pounds, Hugh’s parents immigrated to Australia to relocate with their four children. Hugh was the only child born in Australia and is the youngest child with four older siblings.
When Hugh Jackman was 8 years old, his mother and father divorced. His mother left the family in Australia and went back to England to look after her sick mother.Therefore Hugh and his siblings were raised by their father. He calls his Dad a very “selfless” man because he would do anything for Hugh.
Hugh Jackman went to primary school at Pymble Public School and then attended the exclusive Knox Grammar School for high school.
When he was a child, he would return to England to see his mother occasionally and she would take him to see plays and musicals. This developed a passion in Hugh Jackman but he never considered becoming an actor.
With a passion for journalism, Jackman enrolled himself into a Communications Degree at University of Technology, Sydney. After graduating in 1991 from the University of Technology, Sydney, with a degree in communications, Hugh Jackman began working temporary jobs to pay for classes at the Actors Centre Australia. Jackman launched his professional acting career through stage productions and appearing in many Melbourne musicals.
OLDER LIFE
Hugh Jackman got married to his wife Deborra-Lee Furness on the 11th April 1996.They met a year earlier during the production of the Australian series ‘Correlli’.
After suffering two miscarriages and infertility issues, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness adopted two children, Ava and Oscar in the United States because it was 'easier’. Oscar is now aged 21 and Ava aged 16 years.
Hugh Jackman is currently living in Melbourne but he also owns several properties around the world.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Hugh Jackman made his acting career as King Arthur in a production of Camelot when he was just five years old.
He turned down a role in the long-running television soap opera Neighbours, to further extend his acting skills at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in suburban Perth.
Not long after graduating from there in 1994, he landed a role in the 10-part TV prison drama, Correlli (1995) where he played the bad boy role of Kevin Jones and where he met his wife Deborra-Lee Furness.
In 1995, Jackman took to the stage, scoring the lead in the Australian premiere of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical adaptation of Billy Wilder’s noir classic Sunset Boulevard.
In 1998 he won the role of Curly in a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma! (1998) in West-End, London. The sold-out run set box-office records.
Jackman next turned to film, making his Hollywood debut in X-Men (2000), in which he portrayed the antihero Wolverine. This role established him as a bankable action star and he became a global success.
He demonstrated his range with a pair of romantic comedies, Someone like You (2001) and Kate & Leopold (2001).
In 2003 he once again starred as Wolverine in X2.
Jackman made his Broadway debut in 2003 as singer-songwriter Peter Allen in the biographical musical The Boy from Oz. This role won him a Tony Award in 2004.
His other Broadway credits included A Steady Rain (2009) and The River (2014–15).
He hosted the Tony Awards shows in 2003–2005.
An established star both in Hollywood and on Broadway, Jackman returned to the big screen starring in The Fountain (2006) and the dramatic thriller The Prestige (2006)
In 2006, he then returned again as Wolverine in X-Men: The Last Stand
In 2008 he starred opposite Nicole Kidman in Baz Luhrmann’s lush historical epic Australia.
In 2009, he hosted of the Academy Awards ceremony, showcasing his skills as a premier song-and-dance man.
He reprised his role as Wolverine in the prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009 and performed in the Broadway play A Steady Rain.
In 2011 he returned to the screen and featured in the movie Real Steel.
In 2011 he performed in his own hugely popular one-man concert show on Broadway called Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway.
In 2012 Jackman starred in the film adaptation of the stage musical Les Misérables, as the fugitive hero Jean Valjean, which earned him a Golden Globe Award.
Also in 2012 he returned to Broadway in the drama The River and also received a special Tony Award for his varied contributions to the Broadway community.
In 2013 he took the lead role as Wolverine in The Wolverine and in 2014 Jackman appeared as Wolverine again in X-Men: Days of Future Past
He costarred as a ski-jumping coach in the inspirational film Eddie the Eagle in 2016.
In 2017 Jackman starred in Logan, the 10th film in which he appeared as Wolverine.
Later in 2017 he portrayed P.T. Barnum in the musical The Greatest Showman.
In 2018 he starred in The Front Runner and in 2019 Jackman voiced a British adventurer in the stop-motion animated film Missing Link and starred in Bad Education.
In 2019, he also staged a world tour ‘The Man. The Music. The Show’ which featured singing, dancing, and storytelling.

The film had a budget of $200 million and made $747 million from the movie itself all over the world. His personal net worth is around 180 million dollars and he owns several homes around the world but currently he is living in his home in Melbourne.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COMMUNITY
Hugh Jackman has been made a friend of the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday honours for "eminent service to the performing arts as a famous actor and performer, and to the global community, particularly as an advocate for poverty eradication".
He is recognised for his philanthropic and charity work including: supporting the theatre charity Broadway Cares, working with poor countries and the Indigenous and people that don't have access to sevres and wealth.
After a trip with wife Deborra-Lee Furness to Ethiopia for World Vision a ten years ago, he opened a coffee business called Laughing Man Coffee Company in the United States where all funds from the business are donated to the Ethiopian community for development and education programs.
He is also a supporter of the Global Poverty Project and its Live Below The Line campaign, representative for Adopt Change, patron of the Fight Cancer Foundation, and a goodwill representative for World Vision Australia.
He is also co-founder of the Jackman Furness Foundation for the Performing Arts at the Western Australian Academy for the Performing Arts.
