Fundamentals of Technology is a 32-week course offered to 8th grade students as a prerequisite to Computer 1. This course introduces the student to the fundamentals of office safety, computer hardware, operating systems, keyboarding, graphics, word processing, presentation software, spreadsheets, and coding. In addition, “Computing Fundamental” standards are introduced, to the students, with each new lesson. Each lesson builds on the previous lesson, which enables the student to maximize their learning process. At the end of this course, the student will have a good working knowledge and background of Windows 10, Keyboarding, Paint, and Microsoft Office 2016. Incorporated within the program is the application of computers as the primary tool for problem-solving in all career fields.
