Throughout my four years at Davie County High School, the arts have been a formative aspect of my academic and social career. Participating in dance classes from the beginning level to company has exposed me to multiple cultures, improved my dance abilities, and allowed me to participate in various service projects. I have had the opportunity to perform at a local nursing home as a way to bring joy and entertainment to its residents, and I was a member of a group selected to demonstrate the importance of the arts in schools to our state government representatives. While I participated in dance classes in school, I was also a member of the Davie County High School Dancing Boots all four years. With the Dancing Boots, I competed in regional and national competitions and participated in summer technique and strength camps. Being on the dance team allowed me to meet new people and support my school in a new way, and the Fridays I spent performing on the track at football games were some of my favorite nights. Along with my participation in the arts, I was also a member and President of the National Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts, Secretary of the Student Council, Vice President of the Make-a-Wish club, and a member of the Health Occupation Students of America club.
