Phishing victims can be tricked into taking action or providing sensitive information often because they think they trust the source of the request, or engage with the message without taking a critical look.

Hallmarks of Email Phishing Attempts

Sent from vague-sounding or unfamiliar email addresses.

Calls for specific, immediate actionoften with the threat of big consequences if you don't act.

Requests to provide sensitive information like financial app login information, phone numbers, email passwords, etc.

Contains suspicious links or attachments, like vaguely named Google Drive file shares or downloads.

Recent Phishing Emails Found in Davidson Inboxes

Davidson T&I has seen a rise in several specific phishing types:

Fake employment opportunities for students, which has led to students sharing personal information and experiencing financial loss.

Requests for personal information, which when provided, have led to additional attempts at more sophisticated phishing levels.

Fake Shared Google Docs notices, which have caused Davidson accounts and credentials to be compromised.
