Central is currently involved in mentoring programs at McKinley Elementary and Garfield Elementary.
Each high school mentor is paired with an elementary mentee. Starting in October, the mentoring will occur once a week before school at the elementary school. The high school student is responsible for transportation and should communicate in advance for any absences. On the mentoring days, the school counselor at the elementary school will provide different activities that the mentor/mentee pair can choose from. The goal is for the high school students to be positive role models and build meaningful relationships with the elementary students. Most often, the mentor/mentee pairing rolls over from one year to the next.
There are limited spots available for mentors, and it is imperative to know that it is a commitment!!
