What is Business Intelligence (BI)? Every Company posses several systems storing data of its daily activity: invoicing, product stock, sales, maintenance, HHRR. The goal of BI is to obtain information from this data, for example, to link the invoice volume with salespeople. This information is summarized in Control Panels also known as Dashboards, which permits to make decisions based on the indicators displayed. One key advantage of a BI system is that it permits to show this information in a simple way, adding the possibility of using filters and drill-down actions using several parameters at the same time, for instance we can see information by Country, State, Year, Quarter, month or day. In this manner we can easily pinpoint, for example the source of a cost increase. Besides filtering, the user can make very quick comparisons, for example which was the branch with more sales, which one was the costlier. BI platforms also support geographic information, so you can show information linked to maps.
