Journey through History

Welcome to Room 213!

Welcome to Room 213! I am looking forward to teaching social studies this year.  We will cover the beginnings of our nation, the people, and the events that shaped our nation, and how that foundation has stood the test of time for over 200 years.

In the past two decades, we have witnessed history unfold before our very eyes. The terrorists attacks of September 11, 2001 has become the Millennial Generation's response to Pearl Harbor and their "Where were you?" historical event, similar to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.  Then we have seen how our nation and government responded to the tragedies of September 11th and the War on Terror. We have witnessed the collapse of dictators and possible peace with a long-time enemy. We have survived a global pandemic. We have witnessed historical elections and how the role of social media is shaping government policy and our history. We have seen our nation go from a sleeping giant to the aggressive giant, practically overnight during the those years. Now we are seeing history unfold before our very eyes as we turn on the news, waiting to see if we have learned from the lessons of the past.

It is my goal that each student sees the importance of studying social studies. For me, I want each to student to see where we, as a nation, have come and where we are headed and learn to critically think about the events of the past and finding those connections to our future.  Hopefully by studying history, we can avoid the mistakes as we enter the future. These courses are designed to prepare students to become active participants in our society both here at home and abroad. Working together--students, parents, and the teacher--is a winning combination for success in achievement that cannot lose. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate in contacting me.
