Thank you for visiting the Magnet Programs web page! We have eight (8) magnet programs awaiting you full of challenging and innovative curriculum. If you are interested in applying for one or more of our magnet programs and/or schools, click on the "APPLY ONLINE" below. If you are interested in applying for the magnet high schools, please click on the red "ESSAY TOPICS" button FIRST so you can draft your required essay FIRST before applying.
The ACCELERATE Engineering Program, a product of the SC Governor's School for Science & Math for rising 9th & 10th graders, is housed at Mayo High School for Math, Science, & Technology. This screen will appear first before the essay portion of the application. You will need to indicate whether you would like to apply for Accelerate and then you may proceed with the application.

Brockington Elementary Magnet School for Science and Technology serves 3rd-5th grade students and offers a challenging environment with special emphasis on science and computer technology. Students in the magnet program receive a comprehensive, integrated curriculum based on state and national standards.

Thornwell School for the Arts Magnet Program offers vocal music & instrumental music (strings), theatre, and visual arts to students in grades 3-5. Students are able to explore and perfect their artistic talents.

The Darlington Middle School Math and Science Magnet Program provides real-world experiences through exposure to advanced science concepts, a rigorous technology-infused curriculum and partnerships with the scientific and business communities.
The Hartsville Middle School Arts Magnet Program includes chorus, strings, visual arts, and band. In addition, the arts department presents one major theater production each year. All students are encouraged to participate in one of the many opportunities presented through the arts at Hartsville Middle.
The Hartsville High School IB Programme provides Darlington County students with the opportunity to earn an International Baccalaureate Diploma, the most prestigious high school diploma available. The International Baccalaureate Magnet Programme emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and exposure to a variety of viewpoints. Students are taught the inter-relatedness of various disciplines and issues, an understanding of issues on an international scale, and responsible citizenship.
The Darlington High School Early College Honors Magnet Program partners with Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) to offer general education college courses while students are still enrolled in high school. FDTC has an arrangement that allows students earning a "C" or higher in each dual-credit class to transfer the credit earned to any state college or university in South Carolina. Out-of-state and private colleges and universities may also accept these courses after evaluating the student's transcript.
