Hi,
Welcome to the website about the Darien Public Schools weather stations! I created and built these stations as my Eagle Project and I am very excited for students to use them in their learning about science and weather.
These weather stations contain numerous instruments, which are explained in the "The Instruments" tab. Instruments on this weather station can measure air pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction, time, and precipitation. To protect some of the more delicate and accurate instruments I designed and created a scientific screen called a Stevenson Screen. You can learn all about this in the "The Stevenson Screen."
I have included ideas on what you can learn with this weather station and thoughts for how to use it in the "Learn" tab. This station is a great hands-on opportunity for students to learn how to gather data and analyze it. It also may be fun to put a weekly weather report from the station in the daily announcements. In addition, I have made a "Helpful Links" page that contains a variety of websites and printable pages that can be used as aids in school.
Finally, I installed an electronic weather station at Royle that broadcasts live local weather data available to everyone. On the "Live Weather Data" tab, I include information about this instrument as well as links to see the data.
Thanks,
Sebastian Mengwall
