Grade 7 Advanced Mathematics
The major focus of Grade 7 Advanced Mathematics is developing an understanding of linear algebra and linear functions. Students will extend their knowledge of rational numbers to irrational numbers, working with radicals and exponents. They will develop an understanding of the connection between proportional relationships, graphing lines, and linear equations. A major part of this work is using functions to model relationships between quantities. Students will also work with geometric figures, understanding congruence, similarity, the Pythagorean Theorem, area, perimeter, and volume. Seventh grade students work on developing their reasoning, problem solving, and computation skills and knowledge for both mathematics and real world problems. Our assessments include a variety of quizzes, weekly challenges, tests, projects, homework and/or class participation.
