The APO plays key roles as an institution builder by strengthening the ability of National Productivity Organization (NPOs) and other institutions to promote productivity, provide training, and offer capacity building services to the public and private sectors. It also serves as a regional adviser, surveys the economic and development policies and performance of each member, and assists in formulating strategies for enhanced productivity and competitiveness. These efforts are covered through number of projects designed to meet members’ specific needs.
Study Mission activities are conducted through virtual or face-to-face modality.
Virtual
All sessions are conducted online through Zoom.
The duration of each day's sessions is around three (3) hours.
A virtual session may be conducted as a preparatory activity before a face-to-face meeting or as a consultative, trouble-shooting mechanism among National Productivity Organizations (NPOs), participating/recipient organizations/firms, resource persons, and the APO Secretariat.
The APO Tokyo will inform resource persons and delegates of the link to the virtual sessions. The link will be exclusive to resource persons and delegates and should not be shared.
Face-to-face
All sessions are conducted face-to-face (in-person).
The duration of each day’s sessions is eight hours.
The detailed program, list of delegates and list of resource persons will be provided at least one month prior to the program, followed by information on the logistical arrangements.
Delegates are required to attend all sessions. Full participation is a prerequisite for receiving the APO Certificate.
Recipient organizations and its mission members will study and observe recent developments and best practices of other organizations in any one APO member country, a particular area of interest relevant to productivity promotion. . The program allows learning of best practices through dialogues, presentations, and site visits, enabling the mission members to understand the key success factors in implementing new, nationwide initiatives effectively.

NPOs and its delegates will learn more about and share best practices with other APO members to improve national productivity. The BCN facilitates meetings between high-level policymakers and top NPO officials as well as observations of new productivity initiatives and interventions to assist members in becoming more productive and innovative.
