Job Title: Learning Support Practitioner
Line Manager: Deputy Headteacher
Pay Range: H3.5 £25,583 + £1045 fringe allowance (paid pro-rata)
Actual Annual Salary: £19,082.96pa (including fringe)
Work Pattern: 31 hours per week Monday to Friday (8.30am - 3.20pm with 30 min unpaid break)
Weeks worked: - Term Time plus Inset
We are looking for a talented Learning Support Practitioner to work as part of a professional team. You may be working in a whole class situation or providing learning support to pupils who need particular help to overcome a variety of barriers to learning.
Main duties and responsibilities
Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher/Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo), adjusting activities according to pupils’ responses as appropriate
Participate in planning and evaluation of learning activities with the teacher, providing feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour
Support the teacher/SENCo in monitoring, assessing and recording pupil progress/activities
Provide feedback to pupil in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher
Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher
Support with social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate
Understand and support independent learning and inclusion of all pupils as required
If required, attend to pupil’s personal needs including toileting, hygiene, dressing and eating, as well as help with social, welfare and health matters, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.
Undertake break-time and lunchtime supervision including facilitating games and activities
Learning Support Practitioners may also undertake some or all of the following:
Administer medication in accordance with an agreed plan under direction of healthcare practitioner and following appropriate training
Update pupil records
Assist with escorting pupils on educational visits to other settings
Undertake safe moving and handling activities if required (training would be provided)
Other areas of responsibility
Read and follow the relevant school policies
Undertake training required to develop in the role

Supervision/Job Context
The post holder is managed on a day to day basis by an Assistant Headteacher / SENCo.
Contacts
The post holder will work with children, teachers and other LSPs, MSAs, the Senior Leadership Team and the Administration team of the school and the Trust. In addition, from time to time they will work with representatives from outside agencies, parents and carers, governors and staff from other settings that feed into the school.
