CCST sorting food to be given for their Senior Food Box Distribution (8/12/23)
I graduated from Saint Theresa School and afterwards went to Damien. I felt like doing community service at my old school would be the perfect opportunity to get hours. However, only recently did I discover that they distribute food for the Kalihi Community. These distributions are hosted and sponsored by the Hawaii Foodbank, whose mission to combat hunger in all of O'ahu has been a current issue which has been ongoing in the whole state. I have gone to multiple distributions since I found out during the summer and have felt proud in the work done and enjoy it. I have been able to attend the Senior Food Box Distributions held every second Saturday of the month and the Ohana Fresh Produce Distributions on every fourth Saturday of the month. The work can vary from sorting out food from different types like canned corn from peas to distributing food to those who come. You can come on these days said in the schedule below* but remember to wear shoes to volunteer!
