As the first quarter ended, the editors of Student Life want to say congratulations on pushing through the first quarter! Hopefully, fall break was a good way to take your mind off school and enjoy life a little more, but as we come back to school, let's all start with refreshed minds and successfully complete the second quarter. Whether your first quarter was good or bad, let’s come back to school, get through homework, quizzes, and tests successfully. October is going to be a big month full of events and activities planned by student government, so make sure to look out for information on the institution page on Blackboard.
Damien Memorial Students came together to create amazing and imaginative posters about keeping our campus clean. They let others know to treat the `aina with respect and to pick up trash. In order to keep this campus beautiful, the entire Damien `ohana needs to work together to clean up trash, treat facilities with respect, and take ownership of the space. One poster, displayed near Room 321, says “be part of the solution, not the pollution!” and Ke Ali'i ask that you all take that message to heart.
Damien Memorial strives to have a fantastic Project Grad for all seniors! If you're wondering what Project grad is, Aunty Tracey, mother of senior Tyler Bras, says “it’s an event for the seniors to celebrate one last night together at a secret location," meaning only Damien seniors are allowed. This event lasts from 8 pm-7 am on the night of graduation! To help raise funds for this event, Aunty Tracey, along with the Project Grad committee, are fundraising through concession stands that offer affordable treats, and by holding car washes. As of right now, there is no theme, and most things regarding Project Grad are a secret so keep an eye out. Damien Memorial plans for the seniors to have a blast!
