Senior Release
Dear Seniors and Senior Parent/Guardian:
As a senior, your student may qualify for senior release. As described below, there are certain qualifications for senior release and rules to maintain senior release throughout the school year. Eligibility to participate in this program will be evaluated every six weeks during the school year. If your child fails to qualify within a given 6-week period, he/she will NOT be eligible for re-enrollment in senior release until the NEXT 6-week period.
The qualifications for this privilege are as follows:
Senior status before the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Meeting an Act 158 Pathway. (Any questions should be directed to your school counselor.)
Students must be passing all classes with an A, B, C, and/or P. Eligibility will be evaluated every six weeks (during the middle and end of each trimester) throughout the year. Eligibility for the beginning of the school year is determined by grades at the end of Trimester 3 of the prior school year.
Required parent permission form completed in Skyward.
Students cannot be on the Obligation List. This means they should not owe textbooks, calculators, Tech Fees, etc., to teachers from prior trimesters or years.
Seniors with a scheduled study hall(s) in period 5 of the 2024-2025 school year may take advantage of the Early Release during period 5 and the Wildcat Period. Seniors who do not have a scheduled study hall during period 5 may utilize the Wildcat Period only for Senior Release. Existing schedules will not be changed to accommodate senior release.
The rules established for this privilege are as follows:
Students on Senior Release must select the Senior Release option in Flex by 1:45 p.m. daily. Failure to select Senior Release in Flex may result in losing Senior Release privileges.
Students should not have any obligations to attend to during the Wildcat Period (Students are expected to stay in school for academic reasons as requested by teachers).
Periodically, there will be mandatory Senior Class meetings. On these days, there will be no Senior Release. Students would need a parent note to leave early for appointments on these days.
No additional transportation for students participating in this program will be provided.
Students who select Senior Release must leave campus during Wildcat Period unless they are rostered to a club/activity or academic need; they are permitted to return for after-school-related activities.
This privilege does not apply when the Wildcat Period and/or Period 5 are not at the end of the day due to an alternate schedule.
Except for transportation directly to and from school, school insurance will not cover qualifying students who leave during the release period(s).
Administration shall retain the right to revoke this privilege at any time. This applies to all qualifying students, especially those who fail to abide by school rules and procedures or those failing to meet academic or attendance responsibilities.
The anticipated start date for senior release will be August 30, 2024.
Parents/Guardians: If you would like your senior to participate in this privilege when eligible, please complete the Senior Release tile in Skyward.

There is a dress code for photos of formal attire. Young men traditionally wear a white or light blue dress shirt, tie (standard necktie or bow tie) and a Coat (suit coat or sports jacket in black, navy or Gray only). Young women typically wear a black drape that is provided by the studio. Students may either wear a drape or jacket, that is up to their discretion. Photos will only appear with either those two options unless approved by the studio/advisors of the yearbook. If your student does not own a dress shirt, jacket or tie, those items can be provided the day of the appointment by the photography studio. The studio and yearbook staff reserve the right to refuse to print a portrait if clothing is offensive or does not follow Dallastown Area School District dress code policies. Our goal is to feature each student in a classic, traditional way that can be used as a formal portrait for scholarship presentations and other school district celebrations of our senior class.
