Summer Science Enrichment Program

The STEM Environmental Education Center's Summer Science Enrichment Program is an outdoor experience for Dallas ISD students who have finished the fourth grade and will enter the fifth grade in the fall of 2024. For summer 2024, the dates for the program are Monday-Friday beginning on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 and ending on Friday, June 14, 2024. The instructional day lasts from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.  Transportation, breakfast, and lunch are provided. The program can accommodate a maximum of 125 students. Students are nominated for the program by their schools. Further information about the program will be distributed to schools in the spring.

The Summer Science Enrichment Program primarily focuses on the life sciences, ecology and environmental concepts. Students will engage in a variety of outdoor, hands-on, field investigations and explorations in different areas of science using the forest, ponds, and grassland areas of the 500-acre center. Topics covered include entomology, aquatic ecosystems, botany, fossil hunting, and geology. Students will have an opportunity to interact with a variety of live animals, museum exhibits, and livestock during the course of the program. All programs are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Science and support student mastery of multiple science concepts. This program will help students perform better on their STAAR assessments. Programs are delivered by experienced, certified, district science teachers.
