Gifted and Talented (GT) services in Dallas ISD seek to develop and nurture student potential, provide opportunities for advanced performance, and advocate for students with gifted potential.
The state of Texas defines a gifted and talented student as one who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who:
exhibits high-performance capability in an intellectual, creative, or artistic area;
possesses an unusual capacity for leadership; or
excels in a specific academic field.

Through the gifted and talented program admitted students receive 2 hours of specialized academic services per week to meet their gifted needs. Specialized instruction is focused on critical thinking, problem-solving, creative thinking, researching, project-based learning , and developing innovative products.
A potential GT student is referred by a teacher, counselor, administrator, or parent. There are 4 criteria the campus placement committee evaluates for students to be eligible for GT services. More information about this process can be found on the Potential GT students tab.
