Differentiated instruction (DI) is the systematic planning and implementation process for creating educational experiences tailored to meet the needs of each individual, honoring and celebrating differences by capitalizing on strengths and supporting needs. It is student centered, with learning opportunities intentionally designed to foster the highest achievement for each student. Differentiated instruction is not a singular linear process but is instead a multidirectional process with critical junctures and decisions. It is a process used in planning as well as in teaching (Corwin, 2011).
