“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Scholars have been studying critical thinking for the past 40 years, with that has come countless attempts to define critical thinking. For the sake of this session, we are adopting the widely accepted definition of critical thinking defined by Michael Scriven and Richard Paul as: "the intellectually disciplined process of actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and/or evaluating information gathered from, or generated by, observation, experience, reflection, reasoning, or communication, as a guide to belief and action."
In other words, critical thinking is using logical reasons for your decisions and what you believe.
