Milne Grove

Meet Milne Grove's Principal,

Mrs. Koziol

In August of 2011, Mrs. Jaime Koziol joined the Lockport School District 91 team as principal of Milne Grove School. She is honored to work with a dynamic and caring team of professionals to serve students and their families.

Mrs.Koziol lives with her family in Lockport. Her favorite activities include gardening, camping, biking, traveling, reading, and enjoying the outdoors. Though they are now in college, her two sons attended Milne and Kelvin Grove Schools. Having such a personal connection to the district adds great meaning to Mrs. Koziol's work at MG. She is a proud Hornet and grateful to have a direct impact on the community she lives in.

Jaime earned a bachelor's degree in History and Secondary Education from Lewis University and a master’s degree in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. Early in her career, Jaime worked as an interventionist, truancy officer, and teacher throughout Will County for the Regional Office of Education. After transitioning to administration, Mrs. Koziol served as lead instructor of Premier Academy, an alternative school in Grundy County, from 2005 until 2006 and principal from 2006 until 2011. In 2020, she earned her superintendent's endorsement through the University of St. Francis, where she intends to complete her doctoral coursework.

ABOUT MILNE GROVE

At Milne Grove School, we stress creativity, collaboration, problem-solving and character in all instruction. Our academic offerings focus on solid literacy and numeracy. From a strong foundation, our school and district can lead students to inquire about the world around them in a deep and meaningful way through the use of innovative teaching. Our social-emotional programs provide the nurturance young learners need to reach their full potential.

STUDENTS:

Milne Grove staff members place students at the center of our practice. Each team plans for instructional improvement, by revising our program to meet the needs of our learners.  Our students receive core instruction in reading, language arts, math, science, and social studies AND also participate in art, music, technology, and library each week. The curriculum is designed to promote critical thinking and connect learners with 21st century skills.

COMMUNITY:

Strong community collaboration is necessary for any school to thrive, especially a neighborhood school like Milne Grove. We are fortunate to have the participation of a wide cross-section of community groups and agencies in our school. First and foremost, we are thrilled to partner with our parents in their child's education.  Parents and caregivers are welcome to volunteer in many capacities; contact Mrs. Koziol or your classroom teacher for more information!

FACILITY:

Milne Grove School is a two-story building situated on a large parcel of property in central Lockport.  Inside, we offer fully equipped classroom facilities to provide a safe and secure learning environment, including dedicated art and music classrooms.  We have a library and fully outfitted Makerspace with Chromebooks and iPads for classroom use. Outside, we offer two playgrounds and a large open play area.  Our park-like back lot is open for the community to enjoy when school is out.

HEALTH & DEVELOPMENT:

Development of the whole child is a priority at MG.  Our social-emotional learning program addresses students' needs while daily physical education and recess promote activity.  Our kitchen offers nutritious breakfast and lunch offerings that provide balanced meals at school.  All celebrations and rewards utilize non-edible or healthy alternatives to traditional items.  We employ a full-time school nurse to monitor overall student health and care for individual children.
