IESA STATE 2025

Hello EaglesHello Eagles! Just a couple quick updates before the IESA State Finals this weekend!

First, a huge THANK YOU for such an amazing, record setting Sectional weekend! It was incredible to have our Eagles perform so well, and even more amazing to have such parent support for all of our wrestlers in all their matches. Thank you!

Second, this weekend is State! NIU and IESA have given us a lengthy list of bullet points I am linking to here and here. There is a lot of info, but the key takeaways here are start times and food restrictions. Please send your wrestler with plenty of food and water on Friday! It will be a long day and they need to stay filled and hydrated. Saturday they will search bags and not let in food, so plan accordingly.

Third, some Richland specific information. Transportation will be guaranteed to and from NIU for anyone needing it. All Qualifiers will go to school as usual on Friday, receive recognition from their peers, and then get on the bus for DeKalb. In the past, parents have met us there and taken over transportation. However, we understand some families might not be able to join us, so please communicate directly with Coach Camp (815-768-9444) if your wrestler will need transportation home on either day.

Fourth, merch! Coach Hernandez has taken the lead on arranging special Richland State hoodies for our Qualifiers. Last year we had leftover fundraising money, which has since dried up. Each hoodie will be $60. We understand money is tight, so please communicate directly with Coach Camp if you would like to purchase a hoodie for your wrestler, the desired size, and if you need any assistance with the price tag. Coach Hernandez has promised these hoodies will be something special!

Last but not least, speaking for Coach Hernandez, it has been the honor of a lifetime to coach your boys! I only hope we have had half of the impact on them as they have had on us. Thank you, thank you, a million times over, for trusting us and giving us the opportunity to coach your sons!
