This past weekend the Palisade Boys and Girls wrestling teams geared up and traveled to Utah. This is one of the biggest tournaments the boys wrestle in. After a lot of hard work and grit, Senior Keyton Young placed third overall. Unfortunately Keytons interview was inadequate for publishing. Along with Keyton Senior Tyrus Despain placed 8th. Tyrus was out for the first part of the season due to an injury he received during football season. Tyrus started off his season with a bang. “I missed the first half of the season so it is definitely not going how I wanted it to.” When asked what the hardest part of the weekend was Tyrus answered “I am not in the best shape so it is hard to get back on my feet.” Tyrus talked about what he could have done better at the Tournament of Champions ”in my first few matches I could have wrestled less flat.” Freshman Teagan Young placed 7th overall. “I feel I wrestled to the best of my ability and did really well.” Teagan Young started his first high school wrestling season on varsity and has defended his spot and proved he deserves to be there. Over this past weekend, Teagan struggled because the rest of the boys in the 106 weight class are heavier than Teagan. "my biggest challenge is being overweight by most competitors due to not weighing enough for the 106 weight class.” Congratulations to the palisade wrestling team for the successful weekend they had. Continue to cheer them on while they travel to vernal Utah this Thursday to compete in another big tournament.
