Although Palisade doesn’t have its own tennis team, our Bulldogs still show plenty of dominance while playing for other schools. They have competed in a few competitions thus far and continue to look forward to this season, especially this weekend.
Although a few of our dogs like Nick Silzell, Bailey Rubenstein, Evan Prosser, and Trever Rund play for Fruita and Junction, most of our players compete with the Central team. Just last weekend they went to Denver to compete against 7 other teams. They came away with 4th overall, where Andrew Kirschenmann and Canaan Ross scored 2nd in doubles. Other Bulldogs competed very well including Owen Bickham, Joseph Kirschenmann, Ethan Tregilgas, and Diego Villa-Valenzuela. Overall it was a very successful trip to Denver, and a build up to the upcoming tournament this weekend.
This weekend the team will compete in a tournament at CMU against 15 other teams. This is the biggest competition the team has competed in and look for a good takeaway. Owen Bickham, one of the players for the Central team said, “Should be fun, it’s a big opportunity to get placement points for regionals.” Although actual tennis matches are only played by one or two people, the team scores as one at the end of the day. Andrew Kirschenmann, a sophomore on the team said, “I’m pretty excited to see how our team is gonna do.”
We’re extremely excited to see the rest of the season for the team and root on our Palisade Students!
