Students that completed last year's school year with a 3.5 GPA or higher receive a letter as an accomplishment of doing a good job. The Awards Ceremony is what this event is called, it happens every year, you get recognized, accept the letter, and then take a picture, but many people don’t know the importance of this ceremony.
Mr. Bollinger stated in an interview, “In the past, we’ve done it like in the evening, but the kids don’t get recognized in front of their peers” This symbolizes that this ceremony was changed to happen in the morning as an assembly because it is important to have the kids be recognized in front of their peers, as well as having the sense of accomplishment due to their hard work being paid off.
With this assembly, our status as an IB school gains additional recognition, helping our reputation, as well as making people proud. Furthermore, Palisade has equal recognition when it comes to sports, which is unlike most schools. Our academic achievers are students who use the time to accomplish their goals and in return get acknowledged.
“Time magnifies the margin between success and failure. It'll multiply whatever you feed it. Good habits make time your ally. Bad habits make time your enemy,” this was our quote of the day on September 7th, 2022. The word time means something in that quote because if you choose to use your time wisely and with good habits then time can be your best friend and can get you recognized. On the other hand, if you choose to use time like it’s wasteful then you may not be as productive as you could have been if you used your time wisely.
