Every year the Palisade High School classes compete for the prized Spirit Bone. Each class can win points to get the spirit bone by dressing up with spirit days, decorating the halls, and winning in Ruff n Tuff and Powderpuff games during HOCO week.
Last year the Senior class of ‘22 won after going all the way through and beating the teachers in Ruff n Tuff. This year the teachers are back for revenge. Teachers will now be considered a team along with the 4 classes. This is a hot topic among many students, including Owen Bickham, a Junior at Palisade, “I think they’re butthurt that they lost to the seniors last year. It’s a student thing and I think teachers should respect that.” Although the decision is very controversial many agree that it will bring a new and possibly fun factor into Spirit Week.
With Spirit Week just around the corner, everyone is rushing around in excitement. Many of the Ruff n Tuff and Powderpuff teams have started practice and are preparing to compete in front of the entire school. This Friday the entire school will meet in the gym to get hyped up for HOCO week, and bring out the sacred Spirit Bone. Not long after all the classes will gather in their individual halls to decorate it to their best ability. We can’t wait to watch our students, and teachers, compete for the Spirit Bone next week!
