This week we had an opportunity to interview a senior in her last high school year of softball, who plays the position of catcher, Jordan Bauer. We asked to know if she played any other sports, “I play tennis in the spring, and my mom is a big tennis player well not a big tennis player but she plays a lot and so I just go out and help her and I have been playing for probably 5 years.” We asked her how long she had been playing and what had gotten her into playing softball, “So I have been playing softball since I was in third grade, and actually, my step-dad did, we were just out in the backyard just throwing randomly and he was like ‘Oh you should join little league’ so I did and that's what got me started.” With Jordan being a senior and one of her options to further her career we asked her what her plans are for college, “I am going to college but I am still not sure if I'm gonna play in college yet or not.” We wanted to get her opinion on how the softball team is doing this year with the overall record being 14-4, “I think we are doing fantastically for palisade. We are definitely leading the school right now, and I just hope we make it to regionals and after regionals, state cause that was all the senior's goals.” We asked about her views overall on how they work as a team, “I feel like we all play really good and as seniors, we have played together even before high school. We played together in clubs and little league, so we all know each other since before high school and that kinda helped a lot.” We questioned what she thinks is her biggest motivation and her discouragement was “I don’t know I have like a lot of people I look up to and they motivate me to do good. Like my parents, they definitely want the best out of me, but I feel like I hold myself back cause I feel like I'm not good enough until I do it and I am like ‘Oh I fit in’ so my biggest discouragement is definitely myself.” We also talked about what she likes to do in her free time, “I like to read, and I feel like I'm always on the field or in the cage hitting.” Jordan Bauer is a great, friendly, and lively person. She has been playing for our school all 4 years so let’s make sure we make it to the softball games and cheer on our team!
