This last weekend Palisade marching band had their first competition of the season at Stocker Stadium on the 24th. The marching band had a lot to show up with and they did excellent, getting first place for the 3A class and scoring up there with higher classes. They came home with a score of 59 points out of 100 and looked amazing while doing it with the support of a packed Stocker Stadium. The show that they perform is called “Break Though.” It’s a show that the marching band has been working very hard on the show since the end of July and some might recognize it from the Palisade football games halftime show. For their third time running through the show, the marching band felt nervous because “The football game didn't go very well” They were scared of the competition and didn't have practice beforehand but ended up being better than expected. The clarinet leader Isabella Miller said “I think it was good. I think we definitely could have gotten a higher score but it was our best performance so far.” when asked what she thought they could improve on Isabella said “Musically just making sure we're all playing music and working on getting together and foot timing and overall giving our best performance” The marching band’s goals are to focus on stay unified and make sure they are working as a whole so the performance looks good and clean for when state rolls around.
