Both Palisades girl and boys Cross Country teams took fifth place in last week's race in Glenwood. With the race being at a higher altitude than Palisade’s team is used to and a course with multiple large hills the team pushed through and got fifth out of all the teams. One of our varsity girl cross country runners Sophia Dery (Junior) said “The course was really difficult and there was a lot of uphill, some people did really good and some people did bad.” Zenon Reece on the boy's team placed 2nd out of 60 other male runners. “One of my goals is to P.R. and just have fun with the team,” said Sophia “I feel like our team can do well at the meets coming up because
the courses are going to get a lot quicker.”
The J.V. race got canceled a few minutes before it was supposed to start. Dakota Hatcher a senior at Palisade and a fellow J.V. runner said: “I was kind of disappointed because people were saying the course was awful and it made me want to run the course and I was ready and prepared to run.” Other than the J.V. race this is how Dakota feels about the meet. “I think overall the team did well with the hills and it made them better and prepared them for later races. I also think Zenon did well and he pushed through to the end and that's how he got second.” Dakota said. Some of his thoughts about the team and the meet are “I think the team did well with seeing how they were feeling and seeing that it was a harder race. Throughout the season I hope we can have a few more top placers that push through I know Keegan and Quintin have a lot in them to show and I think that by the end of the season they'll be able to be more fierce and top competitors. I feel like we're in a good place right now but I also feel like we can get better.”
