It’s club choosing time at Palisade and although it’s stressful to pick just one, the list of clubs this year is exciting for students to choose from. Clubs are a great way to start making friends outside your group and introduce you to a bunch of new people. The club list touches everyone's interest from the arts to business. If you’re interested in developing your leadership skills and going into business in the future, Ms. Wright’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is the club for you. You get to travel to conferences in Grand Junction, Vail, Denver, and even might have a chance to go to a national convention after winning at the district and state competition. If you want to test your knowledge, Ms. Huntley’s Knowledge Bowl Team may be something you're interested in. In teams, students will compete in a Jeopardy-like game of trivia.
If you're looking for some volunteer hours, some content for your college essay, and a place to help others, Mrs. Zarate De Guajardo’s Interact Club may be a great place for you to do so. Another club that would look great on your resume is the Red Cross Club. I talked to Claire Powell, a freshman at Palisade and a member of the Red Cross Club, “I’m doing Red Cross to be C.P.R. certified, and it sounds fun to help people. It’s in room 323 in the West Building.”
If you’re more interested in the arts there is a wide variety. There’s Mrs. Scroggins Card Making Club where you can learn how to de-stress by making cards, Mr. Franklin’s Digital Media Club will teach you how to write, produce, direct, edit, and record movies, and Ms. VanBenschoten’s Thespian Club is for anyone interested in theater and drama.
Truly here at Palisade there is a club for everyone here no matter your interest. For more details and even more clubs look at the Palisade Highschool Club list.
